International Summer School ENSM 2025

French Maritime Academy (ENSM, École nationale supérieure maritime) is organising its first International Summer School on its campus in Le Havre from the 1^st to the 4^th of July 2025. This immersive week will be dedicated to the ecoenergy transition in the maritime sector, a theme at the heart of today’s challenges.

Over four days, this event will bring together experts, professionals and stakeholders from the maritime sector, around high-level presentations, collaborative workshops, professional visits and targeted networking meetings. Each day will focus on a special theme of the maritime energy transition, which participants can register for on a modular basis.

You will find below an overview of the daily themes, together with the speakers who will be leading them (the information is subject to change):

Day 1 – Tuesday 1^st of July: Energy efficiency transition in the maritime sector

  • Theme 1: Introduction ‘Eco-energy transition, where do we stand?
    Luc Gillet, Engineer, expert and lecturer in maritime transport and energy transition, former Deputy Director of Maritime Transport at TotalEnergies
  • Theme 2: Public policies for a sustainable merchant navy
    Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs, Fisheries and Aquaculture (DGAMPA)
• Afternoon: SOGESTRAN Group
  • Activity 1: Hydrogen barge project management
  • Activity 2: Visit to the hydrogen-powered barge
    The activities will be led by Louis-Marie Rouxel (Technical Director, SOGESTRAN Group)

Day 2 – Wednesday 2^nd of July: The ecoenergy transition in the maritime sector: the value chain

  • Theme 1: Current and future issues and challenges of the ecoenergy transition in the maritime value chain
    HAROPA
  • Theme 2: Setting up and financing low-carbon projects

Day 3 – Thursday 3^rd of July: Maritime energy planning

• Morning
  • Theme 1: Presentation of Marine Renewable Energies (MRE) and conflicts of use
    Lucas Leperlier, Head of coordination for Sea and Coastline public policies, Interregional Directorate for the Eastern Channel and North Sea
  • Theme 2: MRE Stakes economy
    • Introducing Siemens Gamesa Plant activity
    • Visit : Siemens Gamesa Maritime Windplant Assembling site
    • Both activities are led by Ivain Briand (Port and Harbour Services Deputy Manager, Siemens Gamesa)

• Afternoon
  • Visit to the wind farm – Fécamp

Day 4 – Friday 4 July: Wind propulsion

  • Theme 1: Marine propulsion: a market and French technical expertise
    Pierre Chiffoleau (Teacher, ENSM)
  • Theme 2: The economic challenges of sailing ship building
    Diana Mesa (Managing Director, Towt)
• Afternoon
  • Tall Ships Races activity
