Becoming a Teacher

For the September 2024 academic year, ENSM is recruiting teachers to train merchant navy officers at its sites in Le Havre, Saint-Malo, Nantes, and Marseille.

Are you passionate about teaching? ENSM welcomes and supports you:

You will be integrated into the teaching team of the unit for which you are recruited and will be in contact with teachers from all four sites.

You will receive support in:

  • Classroom management
  • Pedagogical practices
  • Course development
  • Organization and planning of teaching
  • Implementation of programs (curricula)
  • Knowledge of documentary resources for information and illustrating courses
  • Mastery of software: PowerPoint, Word, and professional tools.

Do you want to pass on your knowledge? ENSM trains you:

The Directorate of Studies, in collaboration with the deputy site directors responsible for training and department heads, organizes the training and support of teachers. The teaching load for permanent teachers is reduced in the first year to facilitate skill development and preparation for teaching.

Initial and Continuing Training:

  • Tutoring with an experienced peer
  • Individual coaching with a pedagogical engineer
  • Initial training in pedagogy

Whether you wish to pursue a career on land by opting for teaching for a few years or much longer, or you wish to transmit your knowledge and experience while continuing your career, there is certainly the right formula for you.

Reminder:

Navigators can request a detachment of a few years to teach at ENSM while retaining their sailor status (details here).
