Société Portuaire Port de Bayonne is looking for Chief Engineers holding a 3,000 kW Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency to provide temporary cover on dredgers and tugboats, under 1-month and 3-month fixed-term contracts.

Responsibilities

Working on board the Port Authority’s vessels, you will be responsible for the proper operation, maintenance and availability of the vessel’s mechanical and technical systems.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Operating and monitoring propulsion systems and auxiliary machinery;
• Carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment;
• Diagnosing and resolving equipment failures;
• Preparing and monitoring technical maintenance and repair work;
• Managing spare parts and consumables;
• Maintaining statutory and technical documentation;
• Participating in vessel operations in coordination with the Master and crew;
• Complying with safety procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.

Candidate Profile

A valid 3,000 kW Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency is required.

All certificates, STCW qualifications and medical fitness certificates required for seagoing service must be valid and up to date.

Experience on tugboats, workboats or dredgers would be an advantage.

We are looking for candidates who are self-reliant, thorough, responsive and comfortable working as part of a small team.
