Would you like to help train the next generation of Merchant Marine officers? Check out this profile of one of the ENSM’s instructors!

Caroline Pons, a professor at the ENSM campus in Marseille and a former flight attendant, shares her career journey with us

➡️Why did you join ENSM?

🖋️I am a teacher at ENSM and a former seafarer. I sailed for several years on merchant ships and had the opportunity to train students onboard. When I decided to stop sailing for family reasons, it was only natural that I turned to teaching. So I took the maritime affairs administrator exam with the desire to continue sharing what my life at sea had taught me.

This second phase of my career has allowed me to truly flourish. I love teaching, sharing my experience with future officers, and leading projects that bring the School to life and raise its profile, such as Sémaphore, CMES WestMED, Blue4Seas, and, more recently, HydroContest by ENSM.

➡️What advice would you give to a teacher who’s hesitant about joining ENSM?

🖋️To someone who’s hesitant about joining ENSM, I’d say that they’ll find much more here than just teaching. It’s a school that opens countless doors and offers real opportunities to get involved in exciting projects alongside teaching.

➡️Any final thoughts?

🖋️What motivates me every day is contributing, in my own small way, to training the officers of tomorrow and showcasing the excellence of French maritime education.”

ENSM is hiring faculty members and adjunct instructors at its campuses in Le Havre, Saint-Malo, Nantes, and Marseille.
