With support from the ENSM Foundation, dive into the daily lives of six ENSM students: Ana, Oriane, YaΓ«lle, Heevai, Isaac, and Nicolas. Coming from diverse backgrounds, they share a common ambition: to enter a strategic and demanding sector at the heart of global maritime trade.
The documentary highlights the rigor and intensity of the training provided at the school: sessions on navigation simulators, training in the engine room, technical exercises, onboard internships aboard the largest maritime vessels, student life⦠all experiences that prepare students for the operational and interpersonal responsibilities involved in commanding these large ships.
βπ΄π’π₯ πππππππππ πππ ππΜπππ‘π ππ π ππππ β also paints a portrait of a passionate young generation, ready to take on the challenges of a rapidly changing industry. From fleet modernization and environmental issues to maritime safety and technological innovations, future officers and engineers will have to navigate an increasingly complex and strategic world.

ποΈWhy did you take part in this production?
βTo showcase the highly practical and technical side of the ENSM. The professional training program on board is a real-world experience: we handle maintenance completely on our own and take on real responsibilities in operating the ship. Thatβs what I wanted to highlight.β
ποΈβDid the reality of filming match what you imagined?
βClearly, this isnβt something Iβm used to! On board, the schedule is tight. I had to manage the filming while continuing to do my regular duties to keep my shift running smoothly.β
ποΈWhat will viewers discover with you?
βThe day-to-day role of a cadet nearing the end of their training. Iβll take you aboard a cable-laying ship, the Ile dβAix. On the agenda: replacing a pump on a generator, unloading cable in Taiwan, and sailing through the Strait of Malacca. β
ποΈ Did you enjoy the experience?
βIt was a great learning experience. The real challenge is explaining conceptsβsome of which are very technicalβin a way thatβs accessible to the general public. But it was a pleasure to share the passion for our profession, especially the engineering and maintenance aspects, which deserve to be better known.β
ποΈAny interesting stories?
βThe original plan was completely different! I was supposed to board the ship in Pakistan. To simplify the logistics of the shoot and ensure a more accessible location for the crew, I switched ships at the very last minute.β

Among the six students, meet Isaac, currently a navigation lieutenant aboard the three-masted Le Ponant and a former student in the Merchant Marine General Officer program at the ENSM campus in Le Havre. You may have seen him in the first episodes of the series at CROSS and during his survival skills refresher course at CΓ©same.
ποΈWhy did you take part in this filming?
βTo give a realistic picture of the career the ENSM prepares us for, and so my family could understand a little better what I was doing in school.β
ποΈWhat will viewers see with you?
βWith me, viewers will see the final stretch of the multidisciplinary training program, from the hospital internship to the defense of the final thesis and the graduation ceremony.β
ποΈIf you had to sum up your episode(s) in a few words?
βIn one word, it would be βversatility,β because at the end of the fifth year, we move from engine simulators to bridge simulators, including a week-long immersion in the emergency room in Le Havre and refresher training on basic safety procedures.β
ποΈAny anecdotes?
βIt was pretty funny that my first meeting with the film crew took place while I was wearing my Casimir uniform for the TIS refresher training in Saint-Malo.β

The ENSM was able to count on the participation of shipowners in this mini-documentary series, which provided an opportunity to thank them for their loyalty and for welcoming our officer cadets and marine engineering students!

Every year, officer cadets set sail aboard CMA CGM vessels to complete their required sea time and, above all, to gain hands-on experience.
The shipping company is hosting Ana, a first-year general officer cadet, for her onboard internship aboard the container ship CMA CGM Greenland.
βTraining tomorrowβs officers is a key priority for CMA CGM. As our French-flagged fleet expands, we need to pass on our expertise and give future seafarers a concrete sense of life on board. This series showcases that reality, from the perspective of those who live it firsthand.β
