A look back at the Retrofit Challenge by the Tribat team, which took second place!
The Retrofit Challenge invited French and international students to tackle a real-world industrial problem by proposing concrete, innovative, and sustainable solutions to retrofit an existing ship through a case study. An engineering challenge at the heart of the maritime transition. The jury praised the quality of the finalists’ work, both in their proposals and their presentations.
Two ENSM teams participated in the competition—Tribat and the DMOniaques—both composed of first-year maritime engineering students at the ENSM campus in Nantes.
The Tribat team, made up of first-year marine engineering students at ENSM, consisted of Dania, Titouan, Lucas, Théo, Asma, Esther, Quentin, Omar, and Antoine. They were mentored by Marcos Pagoto, a professor of naval mechanics at the ENSM campus in Nantes.
“Participating in the Retrofit competition was a memorable experience that motivated our entire team to aim for the Design category in the next HydroContest. It would be a pleasure to apply what we’ve learned in class to a real-world project. For us, moving into the design category will be an opportunity to combine our technical expertise with engineering to tackle an even more comprehensive and rewarding challenge.” – Tribat Team
