PROGRAMME

Theoretical training :
– Introduction of the different electronic charts
– Main kinds of ECDIS and display characteristics
– Risks and limitations of ECDIS in the integrated bridge
– Factors affecting system performance and accuracy

Practical training :
Basics on the tasks performed by the Officer of the Watch (demonstration by trainer) :
– Image adjustment and maintenance
– Data display
– Route planning
– Route monitoring
– Alarm monitoring

Case study :
– Getting to grips with ECDIS on arrival at the bridge
– Analysis of the passage plan
– Checking updates

Discussions:
– Use of the PPU
– The place of ECDIS during manoeuvres.
