The ENSM Foundation presents its 2025 Annual Report!

Writing an annual report is a special occasion: it’s a chance to take stock of the past year. ✨

It’s not just for the executive board, the board of directors, or donors and partners—it’s for the general public as well.

So, did the ENSM Foundation successfully promote the merchant marine and its Grande École in 2025? 🌊

As a reminder, France has a clear goal: to double the number of trained officers by 2027, increasing from 222 graduates per year in 2021 to 446. This year, the ENSM reached a significant milestone with 352 graduates.

To support this goal, we must inspire future careers:

📍The School registered 1,341 applicants, a 17% increase compared to 2024.

📍2,780 middle and high school students were met with across France. This was made possible by a presence at 21 career fairs and the deployment of 82 promotional teams.

📍HydroContest, a student competition for designing eco-efficient ship prototypes to address decarbonization, has taken off as an independent association, with a major event scheduled for Marseille in April 2026.

📍Production of a documentary miniseries has begun in partnership with Mediawan. By following the journeys of five students, the ENSM Foundation aims to show as many people as possible what the merchant marine is really like today. Scheduled for release this spring!

“This work cannot be done alone: our governance has even expanded to bring together the entire maritime family. In addition to shipowners, we have welcomed the shipbuilding sector through GICAN and the port sector through the Union des Ports de France. It is by uniting the entire industry with a 360-degree vision that we are building the future, together. ”

– Colomban Monnier, President of the ENSM Foundation
