Revalidation of master chief and chief mate certificates (>500)(Test)

PUBLIC CONCERNED

Any officer in charge of a navigational watch on the bridge of a commercial or pleasure vessel equipped with an electronic chart display and information system (ECDIS).

PREREQUISITES

Hold a master’s certificate or first mate’s certificate for ships > 500 tonnage.

OBJECTIVES

To demonstrate continued professional competence and obtain revalidation of the certificate.

DURATION

8 hours / 1 day + 1.5 days on the simulator

Programme of tests and courses for the revalidation of certificates for masters and chief mates of ships of 500 gross tonnage or more (and masters and chief mates of ships of less than 500 gross tonnage not engaged in near-coastal voyages – STCW Rule II/3)

Tests :
– SMCP English: 1/2 hour
– Navigation and manoeuvring simulator / Steering rules / Meteorology / Navigation: 4 hours
– Merchant ship operation / Loading calculations: 1/2 hour
– Safety: 1/2 hour

Yes.
The course certificates are electronic and can be accessed directly on your seafarer’s portal as soon as the training course has been successfully completed.
These certificates are valid for 12 months, during which time you can use the appropriate CERFA form to renew your certificates with Maritime Affairs.
