The decarbonisation roadmap for the maritime sector
Faced with the urgency of climate change, the maritime sector, which accounts for almost 3% of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide, has no choice but to embark on a transition to reduce its environmental footprint. Decarbonising maritime activities is a huge challenge for the sector and, more broadly, for the French economy, which is massively dependent on international trade.
The research carried out at ENSM is fully in line with the objectives set out in the roadmap for decarbonising the maritime sector.
Ingéblue, the French maritime engineering and innovation ecosystem
A total of 15 higher education and research establishments, including ENSM, make up IngéBlue, bringing together research, innovation and training capabilities in maritime engineering and promoting inter-regional synergies.
The aim of this interdisciplinary institute is to bring together national capacities for research, innovation and training in maritime engineering in a single collective effort to serve the blue economy.
By providing support to French companies and public bodies on technological issues in the maritime field, this academic window aims to contribute to the performance of the French maritime engineering sector, in response to global, economic and ecological challenges.
The SOMOS research project, funded by the French Defence Innovation Agency (AID), has been awarded the Ingéblue label.
Brittany Atlantic Marine Cluster and Mediterranean Marine Cluster
Thanks to a common strategic roadmap, the two Marine clusters are fully aligned and coordinated to support innovation for a sustainable and responsible blue economy.
By its very nature, the sea is a shared environment. Developing innovative collaborative projects around maritime themes is the best guarantee of innovative economic development that transcends traditional sectors. The two maritime clusters, Brittany Atlantic and Mediterranean, have proved this by accrediting more than 850 projects since 2005, representing a total investment of €2.5 billion.
ENSM is a member of the 2 clusters :
- The Brittany-Atlantic Sea Cluster
- The Mediterranean Sea Cluster
