Versatile officer

SUDILES is looking for a versatile lieutenant (M/F) to start on 4 August 2025 (permanent contract with a 3-month trial period, ENIM). Applications must be submitted today.

Duties:
Ship handling
:
Responsible for bridge watch and route monitoring, in accordance with the Route Manual (MR) and the captain’s standing orders,

Responsible for engine room rounds, in accordance with the chief engineer’s standing orders (MR),

Responsible for the engine watch at the request of the chief engineer,

Assists the captain during docking and departure manoeuvres and is responsible for stern manoeuvres,

Carries out routine communications on the GMDSS station,

Medical care delegate,

Under the responsibility of the chief engineer, supervises bunkering at the Bd embarkation point.

Reports any relevant information to the Captain and/or Chief Engineer,

Passenger boarding:
Assists the Second Officer in commercial operations,

Responsible for supervising and boarding passengers at the gangway, in accordance with commercial procedures (MOC),

Responsible for checking the condition of passengers boarding (passengers under the influence of alcohol),

Responsible for accurately counting passengers upon boarding, reporting this to the captain before the ship departs and to headquarters,

Reports any relevant information to the second captain,

Ship maintenance: deck and engine room service

Participates in inspections, visits and checks by the authorities, ensures that comments and observations are properly followed up: bridge and engine room service,

Responsible for inventories and orders for the pharmacy, stationery and nautical documents,

In addition to the tasks assigned by the second captain and chief engineer, the multi-skilled officer updates nautical documents and monitors and maintains the GMDSS station,

Participates in technical shutdowns and refits of the vessel,

Participates in technical inspections of the vessel,

Reports any information relevant to the technical management of the vessel to their department head.

Safety management:
Contributes to the proper use of the semaphore software on board.

Has a thorough knowledge of all the company’s SGS procedures within their field of activity and signs off on manuals when they are updated.

May contribute to the drafting and implementation of company procedures.

Participates in safety drills.

Participates in ship safety committee meetings.

Conducts a handover review with the embarking or disembarking lieutenant and ensures the traceability within Semaphore of actions, progress and information to be transmitted,

Reports any relevant information related to safety management to their department head.

Profile:
A versatile chief officer on a seagoing vessel, with no restrictions.
The candidate must have all their licences, certificates and medical examinations up to date.
The working language on board is French.
Rigour and autonomy are the qualities required for this position.
