Focus on ENSM Research Day! 🔎
On 20 November, ENSM brought together civilian, military, academic and maritime professionals for its third international study day dedicated to strategic maritime routes and geopolitical tensions.
From the outset, presentations by François Lambert and VAE Christophe Cluzel highlighted the growing importance of conflict zones for global trade. The conference by VAE (2S) Pascal Ausseur provided an analytical framework, followed by a lively round table discussion on the risks in sensitive areas, from the Gulf of Aden to Taiwan, bringing together CESAM, MICA Center and AFCAN.
The afternoon continued these discussions with a presentation by Jean-Marie Paugam (WTO) and a testimony from Yusuke Mori (IAMU), highlighting the central role of merchant navy officers in the smooth flow of global trade. François Lambert then addressed the effects of international sanctions on maritime flows, before a round table discussion on trade tensions, combining customs issues, economic sovereignty and international competition.
The day concluded with an analysis by Justin Hayden Miller, offering legal insight into global trade. Through the quality of the discussions and the complementary nature of the perspectives, this event is a real highlight for the sector and also illustrates the ENSM’s international ambition and mission: to prepare officers and engineers capable of understanding the changes in maritime trade today and tomorrow.
