ENSM invites you to join its vocational training program for electrical engineering officers starting in the 2026 academic year
The vocational training program for electrical engineering officers takes place at the ENSM campus in Saint-Malo, from October 5, 2026, to June 26, 2027.
The program consists of one year of classroom instruction leading to a diploma and six months of onboard training to obtain the ETO certification. The professional training contract is a six-month work-study program. Upon earning this diploma, officers will be responsible for:
📍managing and maintaining electrical, electronic, and computer systems aboard the ship;
📍repairing electronic and electrical equipment from the bridge to the engine room;
📍on certain ships, leading the team of electricians;
📍playing an increasingly active role in preventing IT security risks, including cybersecurity on board.
The training curriculum consists of the following modules:
▪️Electrical engineering, electronics, and control systems at the operational level
▪️Monitoring ship operations and assisting people on board at the operational level
▪️Maintenance and repair at the operational level
▪️National electrical engineering module at the operational level

The eligibility requirements are as follows:
▪️Hold at least a two-year post-secondary degree in automation, electrical engineering, electronics, computer science, or networking
▪️Hold a valid medical certificate of fitness for navigation in accordance with the provisions of Decree No. 2015-1575 of December 3, 2015, mentioned above;

▪️Selection: Based on academic qualifications for the ETO program for holders of a minimum two-year post-secondary degree in automation, electrical engineering, electronics, computer science, or networking
