A Reunion with Le Havre-Based Street Artist Teuthis! ✨

Since 2023, ENSM has been driving a series of artistic and cultural projects aimed at strengthening its maritime identity, showcasing its campuses, and bringing its community together. This cultural policy aligns with the strategy outlined in the 2023–2027 Objectives and Performance Agreement.

It is within this framework that Teuthis, a street artist specializing in marine biology, was commissioned by ENSM to create murals.

“Le Havre’s street art scene is very vibrant. We are delighted to have been able to make room in this magnificent building for one of its finest representatives, Teuthis. Thank you to everyone who helped further strengthen the Hydro’s integration into the local community.” — François Lambert, Director General of the ENSM

“I had the pleasure of creating a monumental collage depicting an 8.20-meter-long mackerel, a species regularly observed in schools in the waters surrounding the ENSM Le Havre campus. This subject was chosen by the School’s staff and students through a vote; they were undoubtedly drawn to its vibrant colors and proportions, which are particularly well-suited to the wall of the main entrance. This work holds a very special meaning for me: it was indeed right here in 2013 that I installed my very first collage in the hangar—which no longer exists—marking the beginning of an artistic adventure that continues to this day.

Returning to this place more than ten years later to present a work of this magnitude is both deeply moving and highly symbolic.”

Staff, students, and faculty admired the mackerel artwork, which looked impressive in the lobby of the ENSM Le Havre campus! 🌊

The artist will create visual elements that complement one another at both the ENSM campuses in Le Havre and Marseille. See you this fall to admire Teuthis’s work in Marseille. ✨
