Contract type: 6-month fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension

Salary: To be determined based on profile
Work pattern: 2-week on, 2-week off rotations starting 22 April
Contract start date: 23 March (3 positions), 20 April (1 position), May (2 positions)
Location: Lorient (the ship’s home port)

As part of the commissioning of new vessels, navOcéan Services is recruiting mechanical engineers.

Reporting to the captain and the chief engineer, you will take part in sea trials and dock trials, as well as the commissioning of technical systems on board vessels under construction. You will work alongside the shipyard teams and the future military crew.

During periods in port, under the supervision of the officers, you will be responsible for:
• Monitoring the installations whilst in operation,
• Maintaining the installations and systems delivered on board,
• Ensuring compliance with and the proper application of safety standards on board,
• Installing the necessary equipment and signage on board.

During periods at sea, under the supervision of officers, you will carry out:
• Maintenance work and all tasks necessary for the operation of the ship’s machinery.

REQUIRED SKILLS
You must hold at least a mechanic’s certificate, be highly adaptable, have experience working in a multicultural environment, and possess a good command of maritime and general English.

Experience in site supervision and dock and sea trials would be an advantage.

In addition to your technical skills, your ability to work independently and your team spirit are essential assets for the successful completion of your role.

PREREQUISITES
You must hold a valid medical fitness certificate and all valid STCW certificates and qualifications.

Living in Lorient or the surrounding area would be an advantage. Accommodation may be provided for staff living outside the 56 department.
