Socatra, France’s only oil tanker operator, is currently growing with the renewal and expansion of its fleet to 17 chemical tankers (from 8,000 tonnes to 50,000 tonnes) by 2027.

A family-owned shipping company on a human scale, always on the lookout for innovation and mindful of its impact, Socatra has been a pioneer in sail propulsion with the installation of rotor masts on the Alcyone, a ship supplying Polynesia, and will have made nearly 50% of its fleet greener within a year with the delivery of new hybrid and dual fuel/methanol-powered ships.

With a view to modernising and expanding our fleet, we are looking for a Chief Engineer with matrix experience on oil and chemical tankers.

Job responsibilities:

Under the authority of and in liaison with the Captain, you will have the following responsibilities:

• Operating the machine;
• Supervising the machine team;
• Organising and monitoring the maintenance and servicing of all the ship’s installations and equipment in accordance with the Company’s computer-assisted maintenance management system (CMMS);
• Ensuring that operations comply with the regulations in force (ISM, MARPOL, SOLAS, etc.);
• Ensuring safety and monitoring best practices during maintenance operations carried out by crew members and external contractors;
• Keeping logbooks and technical reports up to date;
• Training and supervising crew members to develop their technical skills.

Required profile:

• Unlimited Chief Engineer experience with proven matrix experience on oil and chemical tankers;
• Basic training certificate for oil tankers and chemical tankers;
• Advanced training certificate for oil tankers;
• Advanced training certificate for chemical tankers;
• Fluency in spoken and written English.
