BRIDGE OFFICER on Oil Tanker/Chimiquier

SOCATRA is France’s last remaining oil tanker owner. A family-run company on a human scale, our fleet is constantly growing, with an average of 10 oil/chemical tankers (from 8,000T to 50,000T).
Always on the lookout for innovation and mindful of our ecological footprint, we were pioneers in equipping our ALCYONE vessel with ROTOR masts (Norsepower). As we look to modernise our fleet (with the arrival of methanol-powered vessels), we are recruiting new mates.

Job description:
Under the supervision of the Commanding Officer and Second-in-Command, you will have the following responsibilities:
– Ensuring navigation (preparing routes in accordance with the Commanding Officer’s instructions and the regulations in force (STCW, COLREG, SOLAS, etc.))
– Ensuring the maintenance and regular inspection of navigation, radio and safety equipment
– Ensuring the safety of the vessel, cargo and crew members
– Keep nautical and administrative documents up to date
– Participate in the training of new crew members by ensuring their familiarisation.

Profile required:
– A certificate of Competence for Bridge Watchmasters OR a certificate of Competence for Seagoing Ship Watchmasters.
– Training qualification for oil tankers and chemical tankers.

Little extras :
– Experience on oil tankers and/or chemical tankers is an asset.
– Advanced training qualifications for oil tankers and/or chemical tankers.
– Basic IGF qualification
– Fluency in English
