Officers holding a Bridge Watch Leader certificate who do not meet the conditions required for sea service (or equivalent) to retain the prerogatives associated with the certificate.
PREREQUISITES
To hold a deck watchman certificate for ships > 500 tonnage.
OBJECTIVES
To prove that you retain your professional skills and thus obtain revalidation of your certificate.

32 hours over 4.5 days (course + tests)

PROGRAMME
In accordance with Appendix 3 of the Annex to the Order of 24 July 2013:
Programme of tests and courses for the revalidation of certificates for officers in charge of a navigational watch on board ships of 500 gross tonnage or more (and officers in charge of a navigational watch on board ships of less than 500 gross tonnage not engaged in near-coastal voyages – STCW Regulation II/3)
Refresher and refresher courses in the following skills:
– Navigation / Meteorology: 4 hours
– SMCP English: 4 hours including test (1/2 hour)
– Navigation and manoeuvring simulator / Steering rules: 12 hours
– Merchant ship operation / Loading calculations: 4 hours including test
– Safety: 4 hours including test (1/2 hour)
Test: Navigation and manoeuvring simulator / Navigation / Meteorology / Steering rules: 4 hours

The course certificates are electronic and can be accessed directly on your seafarer’s portal as soon as you have successfully completed the course.
These certificates are valid for 12 months, during which time you can use the appropriate CERFA form to renew your certificates with Maritime Affairs.
