Talk on the comic book *The Baudin Expedition: The Ultimate Sacrifice* by Yves Boistelle and Ritsert Rinsma

The École Nationale Supérieure Maritime (ENSM) is pleased to announce a talk on the comic book *The Baudin Expedition: The Ultimate Sacrifice* by Yves Boistelle and Ritsert Rinsma.

In October 1800, Alexandre Lesueur, a twenty-two-year-old from Le Havre, decided to change the course of his life. He signed on as an assistant gunner on the corvette Le Géographe under the command of Captain Nicolas Baudin. The expedition was a scientific mission ordered by Bonaparte himself: to round the Cape of Good Hope, then cross the Indian Ocean to explore and map a new continent, Terra Australis Incognita. The expedition soon began to falter: the threat of a mutiny and serious incidents jeopardised the voyage of discovery. A concerned yet clear-sighted witness, Alexandre meticulously records the details in his journal. In the Antipodes, scientists and sailors pay a heavy price for their daring. With the British constantly in their wake, will the commander manage to complete the mission entrusted to him by the young Republic?

From 7 October to 21 October 2026, come and discover this exhibition every Wednesday and Friday from 3.00 pm to 4.00 pm.
