MULTI-SKILLED OFFICER

DTM, a subsidiary of the Heidelberg Materials Group, acts as shipowner and operates two sand dredgers engaged in the extraction of marine aggregates. These sand dredgers are self-sufficient in loading and unloading. Maritime transport remains the main activity for sand dredgers operating off the western coast of France, given the distance between the authorised extraction sites and the unloading ports.
Job description:
The multi-skilled officer assists both the master with the navigation of the vessel and the chief engineer with the vessel’s maintenance.
Responsible for watchkeeping at sea and for dredging and unloading operations in conjunction with the master and the second mate, they take part in manoeuvres.
They ensure that nautical documents are kept up to date and managed.
They assist the chief engineer outside of watch and rest periods, and oversee repairs and maintenance of the machinery.
Required qualifications:
– Unlimited multi-purpose officer’s certificate.
– Up-to-date STCW certificates.
– Medical fitness for seafarers.
– Proficiency in the use of on-board fire detection and suppression systems.
– Attention to detail, adaptability, good interpersonal skills, open-mindedness and organisational skills.
– Proficiency in the Safety Management System.
– Ability to work independently.
Contract:
– Permanent or fixed-term contract.
– First-register flag.
– Rotation: 7 days on board/7 days off (Tuesday to Tuesday) + 5.5 days’ leave per month, with crew changes at the port of La Rochelle.
– Employment under the ENIM 10th category.
– Attractive salary.
– Partial recognition of previous service (2/3).
– French Shipowners’ Collective Agreement.
