Second Field Mechanic (M/F)
Reporting to the Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair and technical oversight of equipment outside the engine room, whilst ensuring the safe operation of the vessel and compliance with the ISM Code.
Your main responsibilities:
– Ensuring the proper functioning of technical installations outside the engine room
– Organising, coordinating and monitoring preventive and corrective maintenance
– Supervising, managing and training the external services team
– Ensuring the safety of the department’s assets and personnel
– Checking the operation of external components and diagnosing faults
– Recording incidents, anomalies and technical interventions in reports
– Supervise and carry out maintenance and repairs on the following equipment:
>Kitchen, bar and drinks dispenser equipment
>Laundry equipment
>Air conditioning and refrigeration (AHUs, FCUs, cold rooms, refrigerated containers)
>Hotel facilities (passenger cabins, communal areas)
>Lifts and hoists
>Vessels (passenger catamarans, cargo barges, lifeboats)
>Davits, manoeuvring and auxiliary gear
>Cranes and hold hatches (hydraulic systems)
>Non-engine systems (cold water, hot water, sanitary, drainage, air conditioning)
>Watertight doors, bulkhead doors and their auxiliary components
– Manage stock levels and carry out stock-takes of spare parts and consumables for the field service
– Manage working hours and rest periods for field staff
– Prepare work requests for port calls and dry-docks
– Supervise work carried out by external contractors and the onshore technical department
– Apply and ensure compliance with codes, rules and regulations (IMO, French flag, classification society)
– Lead the ISM process, monitor non-conformities, incidents and high-risk situations
Required profile
Up-to-date certificates required:
– Second Engineer’s Certificate 8000 KW – STCW III/2
– CFBS
– CAEERS
– CQALI
– EM2
– ERM-BRM
– Security awareness
– Passenger Ship Safety
– Up-to-date seafarer’s medical certificate
– 5 years’ professional experience required in an equivalent role
– Fluent English required
– Proficiency in IT tools
