44-metre motor yacht is offering a position for a Lieutenant on the path to becoming a Second Officer on a rotational basis
M/Y 44 M is offering a position as First Officer with the prospect of promotion to Second Captain for the Mediterranean season, starting in early May 2026 in Antibes and running until the end of October 2025.
The role offers the prospect of promotion to Second Captain on a rotational basis from the end of the year for the right candidate.
Itinerary: Western Mediterranean followed by Eastern Mediterranean from late July. Time at sea counts towards the validation of higher qualifications.
Required profile:
• Minimum qualification: Watchkeeping Officer 500 GT, ideally 3000 GT for the knowledge required as a future Second Captain.
• ECDIS
• At least one or two significant periods of experience in similar roles.
• Up-to-date medical certificate
• Up-to-date STCW module
• French speaker (working language on board)
• Fluent in English
• Humble
• Organised and methodical
• Easy-going (we value a great working atmosphere on board ;)).
• Engine room certificate (250 kW or above) is an advantage.
The contractual terms are as follows:
• Scheduled embarkation date: Early May 2026
• Expected disembarkation date: 30 October 2024
• Edge International contract (Planète Mer Service) under Maltese law, including entitlement to French unemployment benefits.
• Gross monthly salary of €3,825 + 3.2 days’ paid leave per month + end-of-season bonus equivalent to one month’s salary paid at the end of the season for six months’ service, or pro rata.
It should therefore be understood that the salary including holiday pay is €4,233 per month spent at sea.
Including the end-of-season bonus, we are therefore talking about an average monthly salary of €4,938 excluding tips.
The Second Officer, meanwhile, is on a permanent contract on a rotation basis.
• Contract under the social security system fully covered by the shipping company and including social security and unemployment contributions.
• Three-quarters of pension contributions are covered by the shipping company; the remaining €125 per month on board is payable by the seafarer.
• Travel expenses from home to the ship for embarkation and disembarkation are fully covered by the shipping company.
