M/Y 44 M, currently engaged in commercial and charter operations, is offering a position as Lieutenant with the prospect of progression to Second Captain on a rotational basis for the Caribbean season.

The role begins with a pre-season training period from October to mid-November, followed by deployment in the Caribbean from December onwards.

Required profile:
• Minimum qualification: Watchkeeping Officer for 500 GT vessels; ideally 3,000 GT to provide the necessary knowledge for a future role as Second Captain.
• ECDIS
• At least two significant periods of experience in similar roles.
• Up-to-date medical certificate
• Up-to-date STCW module
• French-speaking (working language on board)
• Fluent in English
• Humble
• Organised and methodical
• Easy-going (we value an excellent working atmosphere on board ;)).
• Engine certificate (250 kW or above) would be an advantage.

The contractual terms are as follows:
• Scheduled embarkation date: 28 September ± 3 days
• Edge International contract (Planète Mer Service) under Maltese legislation, including entitlement to French unemployment benefits.
• Gross monthly salary of 3,901 euros + 3.2 days’ paid leave per month + an end-of-season bonus equivalent to one month’s salary, paid at the end of the season for six months’ service or pro rata.
It should therefore be understood that the salary, including holiday pay, is 4,317 euros per month spent on board.
With the end-of-season bonus included, this amounts to an average monthly salary of 4,968 euros, excluding tips.

The Second Officer, meanwhile, is on a permanent contract with a 2-month on, 2-month off rota during the season, which can be adjusted to a 5-week on, 5-week off rota during the winter lay-up period.

• Contract under the social security scheme, fully covered by the shipping company and including social security and unemployment insurance contributions.
• Three-quarters of pension contributions are covered by the shipping company; the remaining 125 euros per month spent on board is payable by the seafarer.
• Travel costs from home to the ship for embarkation and disembarkation are fully covered by the shipping company.
