Second Captain
COMPANY
The Compagnie Maritime des Îles is based in Nouméa, New Caledonia. It operates two 68-metre LTCs, the M/V ISAN and the M/V KARAKA, registered for international coastal trade, which provide a weekly service between Grande Terre and the Loyalty Islands. They carry bulk cargo, containers, vehicles and Class 2 and 3 hydrocarbons.
The company operates a regular international service to Vanuatu.
The company is recruiting a Second Officer.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Second Officer is responsible, under the authority of the Captain, for deck duties and commercial operations. He or she is in charge of managing the deck crew and supervises the general maintenance of the vessel (safety, deck equipment, hygiene, etc.) in collaboration with the engine department.
He works closely with the shore-based Technical Department, Dock Department, Cargo Department and Workshop to carry out his duties.
Sailing schedule: Weekly international coastal trade requiring residence in New Caledonia; embarkation according to the shipping company’s schedule (4/3 rotation)
The working language is French.
Permanent contract – ENIM 12
DESIRED PROFILE
Unrestricted Second Captain / 3000 with up-to-date certifications: CFSS, CFBS, CAEERS, CQALI, and a valid medical certificate.
Significant experience of at least two (2) years as an officer.
Rigour, autonomy, a sense of responsibility and good interpersonal skills are the qualities required for this role
