Lecturer in Construction – Operations – Safety

The École Nationale Supérieure Maritime (ENSM) is the leading French higher education institution that trains merchant navy officers and marine engineers. A public higher education institution with campuses in Le Havre, Saint-Malo, Nantes and Marseille, the ENSM supports more than 1,200 students each year as they prepare for careers at sea.

As part of its expansion, the ENSM is recruiting a lecturer in Shipbuilding, Operations and Maritime Safety for its Saint-Malo campus.

Your responsibilities

As part of the teaching team, you will pass on your expertise to the seafarers of tomorrow by delivering theoretical and practical teaching in the following areas:

Shipbuilding;
Ship operations;
Maritime safety and security;
Risk management in maritime activities.

You will also be required to:

prepare and deliver your lessons;
design teaching materials;
supervise practical work and use teaching equipment (fire, abandonment and loading simulators, etc.) ;
assess students and sit on examination boards;
support students with their projects;
contribute to the development of teaching content to meet the needs of the maritime sector.

Depending on your background and the school’s requirements, you may be asked to teach other subjects.

The profile we are looking for:

You are passionate about the maritime world and keen to share your experience.

We are particularly looking for candidates such as:

Merchant Navy officer;
Royal Navy officer;
Seafarer or former seafarer seeking a career change;
Shipping company executive or engineer specialising in fleet operations or newbuilds;
Teacher with expertise in the relevant subjects.

Knowledge of fire safety, lifeboats and survival equipment is a real asset.

Beyond your professional background, we are looking for someone with a passion for sharing knowledge, strong teaching skills, a team-oriented approach and a desire to help train future professionals in the maritime sector.
