DEPUTY CREW MANAGER / ASSISTANT TO THE FLEET PERSONNEL MANAGER
SOCATRA SA, a maritime transport company based in Southwest France, is looking for a Deputy Crew Manager / Assistant to the Fleet Personnel Manager on a permanent contract (CDI).
Main Responsibilities
Reporting to the Fleet Personnel Manager, you will assist in the overall management of crews and maritime operations.
You have a strong knowledge of the maritime sector, maritime regulations, and human resources matters.
You will manage a team of 4 people and may act as a substitute for the Fleet Personnel Manager when required.
Job Description
- Contribute to the development of the company’s seafarers HR strategy
- Assist in planning, supervising, and monitoring crew rotation schedules
- Support recruitment planning and manage the recruitment of officers and cadets
- Monitor contracts for foreign personnel through manning agencies
- Follow up and audit manning agencies
- Oversee training programs for seafarers and manage officers’ career development
- Monitor social security coverage/insurance for French and foreign seafarers and manage P&I cases
- Supervise and control crew changes
- Oversee administrative management of seafarers
- Supervise payroll management for French seafarers
- Maintain relations with vessels
- Ensure legal monitoring and compliance with French, European, and international maritime labor regulations
- Participate in the preparation of the fleet personnel budget and reporting
- Update and monitor company crewing procedures and contribute to audits
- Assist in preparing CSE meetings and annual wage negotiations (NAO)
- Represent the crewing department with schools, administrations, and professional unions
- Actively contribute to continuous improvement of crewing procedures in line with OCIMF (TMSA) guidelines

Profile Required
Skills & Qualifications
- Master’s degree (BAC+4/5), preferably in labor law with a specialization in maritime law
- Strong knowledge of maritime regulations with at least 5 years’ experience in a similar role
- Experience as a seafarer or in a shore-based role related to crew operations is highly desirable
- Knowledge of maritime frameworks such as: Collective Agreement for Seafarers, French Transport Code, ENIM social security scheme is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially advanced Excel skills
- Fluent English required due to international environment
