One of the engines of the dredge “Samuel de Champlain”, being revamped in Dunkirk, was offered to the French Maritime Academy for its Saint-Malo campus, where it will be installed in the diesel engine room.
This engine will allow:
– undertake disassembly on an engine of a similar size and type as the students will meet on board,
– To implement techniques of hydraulic disassembly of the essential motor organs (cylinder head, connecting rod, bearings …)
The first point is already made on smaller engines and outdated technology and the second point was not yet treated.
