François de RUGY, State Minister, Minister for the environment and Élisabeth BORNE, Minister for transport, signed on 13 October, the Contract of Objectives and Performance of the French Maritime Academy (ENSM) with Hervé MOULINIER, the Academy’s president, and Patrice LAPORTE, Managing Director, at the Board of Directors’ meeting

This contract signed between the Academy and the government represents a key step in the project of modernisation and reorganision of the Academy, and sets its main direction for the coming years. For the Academy, the stakes are huge: proposing a full offer of training courses and research which will meet the needs of all the maritime sectors, while strengthening its partnerships and its global reach

To achieve this, four main axis have been defined in the contract :
– Meeting the needs of the economy players
– Asserting the French Maritime Academy as an Academy with a global reference
– Positioning the Academy as a pole of expertise and excellence for education and research
– Strengthening the Academy and implementing in-house management tools

This document had been validated by the Board of Directors on 21 June

Under the supervision of the Maritime Affairs within the Ministry of the Environment, The French Maritime Academy trains the women and men who will command the largest merchant vessels, as well as the executives at the interface of the maritime and shore activities

In its Le Havre, Saint-Malo, Nantes and Marseille campuses, it welcomes around 1,200 students in both initial and vocational training courses, who will take up the great maritime and environmental challenges

« This new contract of objectives shows the government’s ambition for the Academy which was confirmed at the Interministerial Committee of the Sea in 2017. ENSM’s excellence represents a great asset for the development of the whole domestic maritime sector and to prepare tomorrow’s seafarers to the sector’s stakes, especially the ones concerned by the ecological transition. With the signature of this contract, we confirm that the Academy has its rightful place among the French higher education institutions, indicated  François de RUGY and Élisabeth BORNE
