Vincent Roussel and Quentin Rocher : Team 1703

Students in 5th year (DESMM) at ENSM Le Havre, we finished 437th out of the 1200 teams of the 4L Trophy 2015.

The adventure was really crazy

We left on 18th February from Biarritz, the departure village, towards Morocco via Spain. We then met with the 1200 teams, all more motivated and happy as ever, ready to face the Moroccan desert. Two days later, after travelling through Burgos, Valladoid, Salamanca, Caceres and Sevilla, we arrived in Algeciras where we boarded the overnight ferry to Tanger. After a few mechanical troubles a few kilometres before Sevilla, we ended the trip at slow speed so as not to damage further our engine. Indeed, we had to change it in Algeciras…

A lot of good memories somewhat a bit stressful at times.

Once in Morocco, we discovered outstanding sceneries. In the Atlas mountain range, we even saw snow as we drove up to more than 2000 metres in altitude

After spending a night in the cold of the Moroccan mountains, at Boulajoul, we left bound for Merzouga, very close to the sand dunes and the Algerian border. We met with children from the desert and handed them our five bags full of school stationery.

A huge moment of shared happiness.

While driving towards the desert during four days, we had to plan our route ourselves with the help of our compass and log book. It was obviously easy for us to use a compass! That was what we prepared for for many months and the reward was finally here… Sand, just sand all around us.

After spending so many nights in bivouac, we drove back to Marrakech for the end of the adventure and to finally sleep in a hotel and participate in the closing ceremony party.

We would like to thank the school for its support.
