François Lambert, appointed Director General of the French Maritime Academy ENSM

Following advice from the ENSM Board of Directors, chaired by Frédéric Moncany of Saint Aignan, the Secretary of State for the Sea Hervé Berville proposed the appointment, effective September 1, 2022, of Francis Lambert as Director General of the French Maritime Academy, the ENSM.
The priority for the new Director general will be the establishment of ambitious objectives and performance contract to meet the ambition of the government and the President of the Republic regarding the development of the French merchant navy.

François Lambert will take over Caroline Grégoire who had wished to step down as director general.

Hervé Berville would like to thank Caroline Grégoire for the work done during three years.

François Lambert is a Maritime affairs Chief administrator, and until last May 20, he worked as the Chief of staff for Annick Girardin, Minister of the sea; with a strong field experience acquired in the Pas-de-Calais and the Somme, the new Director general of the Academy also benefits from a good knowledge of the maritime and port ecosystem, in his capacity as former general delegate of the Groupement des industries de construction et activités navales (GICAN) and, previously, deputy director of the Maritime port of Dunkirk.

Hervé Berville has set clear priorities for François Lambert: apart from reinstating the efficient operation of the Academy, it will be about creating a new energy for the Academy that trains future officers for the French merchant Navy.

Energy transition, autonomous vessels, and managing future jobs and skills will be priorities.
